Crafty Individuals Open Challenge

Entering this for the CI open challenge this month It was originally made for a swap on the Cardmaking Paradise Forum

The dominos were altered using alchol ink and copic pens to colour the stamped image. I added elements to create interest. The dominos are edged with gold Krylon pen and a flower trim added. The book ties with ribbon at the sides. The pages have rounded corners the paper layers are from CI background books and stamped with varius CI stamps on the front and the back to create 'a walk in the country!'

Wall hanging.

Loved doing this swap and i think i'm getting the hang of this altered art business. LOL

Started by priming the coaster with gesso before covering it with gold viva decor croco crackle paint. When dry I rubbed over with some Blackberry precious metal colour to highlight the cracks. Used my favourite Craft Individuals stamp set CI-364 pretty design elements and stamped the flower stem and butterfly with Adirondak ink 'currant', coloured with distress ink and cut out. Stamped one of the CI-065 love letter ladies for the focal point and added a hint of colour. Arranged all the elements adding some lace and ribbon, a charm coloured with precious metal and finished with some pearls.

Altered Keys

Key swap.

The first of our swaps this year at Cardmaking Paradise was to alter two keys. Now I know there are a bunch of old keys in this house somewhere, but could i find them!  Well I eventually got hold of a couple from other sources so could join in with the swap.

The first key I painted with viva precious metal paint, added a twist of wire and beads and topped it with a flower and ribbon.

The second key was actually a car key so decided to remove the plastic end, with great difficulty! so I could add a bottlecap decoration. I painted this key and the bottlecap with pebeo fantasy paint and while still wet sprinkled with a mix of glitter. Finished with a flower and some ribbon.

Altered Fork

Uri Geller moment!!

Something a little different from me today. It has reached its destination now so I can show you my Uri geller effort LOL. Not quite spoon bending........

Found this lovely fork in a charity shop and turned it into a display stand as a thank you gift for a friend. Using a pair of pliers I bent the centre prongs forward and the outer ones back so it would stand.....This needed some very fine 'tuning' to get the balance right.

Then I painted it using Viva Precious Metal paint in Lilac and highlighted the decorative parts with Blackberry and Mother of Pearl.

To add to the stand I decorated a heart shape with pearls, lace, flowers and sentiment finishing with a butterfly above.

Pendant.

I used a bamboo tile for this swap, coloured with Alcohol ink, edged with silver Krylon pen and stamped with part of a stamp from Our Daily Bread Design set called Birds and Butterfly labels. Finished with a touch of silver glitter and varnished the domino so it could be used as a pendant. Added some beads to finish.

See side bar for video with all the beautiful altered dominos in the swap

Altered tub.

For bits and pieces!

Finished a large tub of drinking chocolate just in time to make this handy storage tub for my grandsons birthday tomorrow.  No excuse now for losing any of his special bits and pieces.

Tub is covered in designer paper with a large hand cut scalloped border at the base. All the images are stamped, cut out and coloured with promarkers. Cuttlebug die for his name.

Also made a small notebook in similar design.

Beeswax

Craft Barn Challenge.

Here we are again challenge time at the Craft Barn this week its using beeswax!  Again this is a product I have never used in my craft work so was very interested to see what could be done with it.  Do check out the great samples and tutorials and give them a try.

So first thing I had to do was get some beeswax!!  I was lucky enough to have a beeswax candle lurking in a cupboard. Now how to melt it? I used my encaustic iron as a hot plate and a tin lid as a melt pot! Now down to business........

Cut a heart shape from grungeboard using spellbinders die, brushed beeswax over it. Dipped the lace in beeswax and placed it accross the heart. Cut out an image from CI background book, dipped in wax and added it. Repeated the process with the flowers and ribbons. One scrunched up for flower centre and one hanging down with wire scrolls to decorate.  Added a gold heart dipped in wax and brushed more wax round edge of main heart for texture. Brushed on perfect pearls to finish.

Bottlecaps

Its Spring!

Thats the theme I used for the altered bottlecap swap over at Cardmaking Paradise. I always find open themes really hard so as it was March I decided i'd make mine with a Spring theme.

I flattened the bottlecaps in the cuttlebug and coloured them with copic pens. I found in a craft catalogue some suitable images and using a circle punch cut them out and decoupaged them. Filled the cap with diamond glaze and added some glitter and a suitable charm.

Heres a close up of one

Altered Dominos

Craft Barn challenge.

Theres a brilliant tutorial on the Craft Barn blog with amazing samples showing us how to alter dominos using Krylon pens and alchol ink and copics.

I had a bit of a play with some black dominos that i had while I waited on my order to arrive, but wasn't happy with the results.  I haven't tried all the techniques yet but will post what i've done as the challenge closes in a couple of days.

The first domino is stamped with a small CI poppy stamp, then masked before stamping the flock of birds. I coloured the image and background with alchol ink using a small paintbrush. Finished by covering the edges with gold Krylon pen.

The second one has a stamped script background and a vintage lady cut out and added. The label is stamped in matching ink to background. I embellished the domino with a flower charm and some gold micro beads. It is also edged with gold Krylon pen.

Still to decide exactly what i'll use them for but they will make nice gifts for crafty friends.

Christmas Heart

Embellishment.

Only just made it in time to enter the Craft Barn blogs Christmas challenge. I've still 4 or 5 cards to make but decided to have a break and a take time to play so I could enter the challenge.

There were so many lovely samples I had a job choosing what one to try first...........yes first! I want to try making them all but will have to finish the cards first. In the end I decided on the decorated heart as i'd had one lying in a drawer for ages. I think my heart is considerable smaller than the one they used for the sample as I only had room to put a few small flowers on it.

I lightly sanded the heart then covered with gesso then red and yellow acrylic paint. When dry I swiped a versamark ink pad over it and gold embossing powder. Was a bit heavy with the swipe LOL . Added some glitter, the punched flowers and a small greeting.

Had to scan it as photo was rubbish, so flowers are a bit flattened. I'll see if I can get a better photo tomorrow.
