My Creative Journey

Looking back I suppose I've always been creative in some way. As a child I never went anywhere without a sketch pad and pencil in my hand. I loved drawing and I even won 1st prize in a painting competition at primary school.  l loved all the practical subjects at school like cooking, needlecraft and woodwork.

Later in life as a young mum these skills were put to good use what with knitting baby clothes, making and decorating birthday cakes, creating fancy dress outfits etc all which satisfied my creative nature at that time.

As family life became less demanding I took up photography as a hobby and joined the local camera club. Thank goodness for digital cameras now a days I could run of several films in a day back then!

Had a brief spell of writing as a creative outlet but soon discovered it wasn't really for me! That took me back to art.

I went along to an evening class for watercolour painting. I was hooked and decided to do a correspondance course in Watercolour Painting with the London Art College. It was during that time I was lucky enough to win another art competion. I went on to do another course on painting animals. After a while I started entering my work in local exhibitions and selling paintings, prints and cards in local shops. Eventually concentrating on animal portraits and took commissions. I even had my own little art exhibition. It was then I was approached and invited to take a small group for art lessons locally.

Then one Christmas I was given a rubber stamping set and that opened the door to a whole new world of wonderful crafting techniques. So many things to try, a never ending source for creativity.

That brings me to the present day, now what shall I create today? Pop over to my blog to find out!
