A mermaids paradise.

Another first time project..........altering a tin! It started as a tin of mints and ended up as this!

I covered the tin in gesso and then a variety of paints in greeny blue 'sea' colours and added a touch of Inca gold to the sides. I built up the 'rocks' using ferro and rubbed some glitter over everything to give sparkle to the water! Used real tiny shells and stones to embellish. The mermaid, fish etc are stamped and embossed .

I coloured the inside of the tin with alcohol ink. Added  a piece of net to the base and fibres to the lid plus lots of beads, shells, sand, glitter etc. The seahorse is also stamped and embossed, the words, sandcastle and mermaid are printed and cut out. I also made a little 'dressing table' for the mermaid to complete the scene.

This was such fun to make and I got a bit carried away with it once I knew what I was doing.

Latest magazine designs.

Cardmaking Paradise magazine issue 21 is online now. Christmas is fast approaching so theres lots of festive ideas in this issue. Heres the designs I made with Saras' latest templates.

This is such a fun template to work with and it stands really well. I covered each letter in patterned paper and added some is Christmas after all! The santa is part of a decoupage which went perfectly with a HoHoHo card, so of course I had to have some pressies too. They're stamped, coloured with promarkers and glittered. Added a little holly sprig on the O's to finish off.

The X card

There are three different templates for this card, I had the tree cutout to design with.

I covered all the sides with matching paper and used stamps form the same range to decorate the card with. All coloured with promarkers and glitter added. The snowflake embellishments are die cut and glittered as well.

I made all the sides different so theres plenty to see and it would look great sitting on a table etc where its viewed more than one way.

With this style of card theres quite a bit of 'waste' from the cutouts but it can all be used............

The card pieces can be popped in an embossing folder to hide the crease and used on a card. The paper pieces I stuck together to make a lovely table decoration.

Sorry the photos are not too good , at this time of year the light is terrible.

A little gift..........

To go with the special friend card.

Used the nesties die cuts, stamped and embossed the frames and images for the centres in silver. Linked them all to gether and added a little bow and some beads at the bottom.

Couldn't get a good photo of it and it was too long for the scanner so i've had to post a pic so you can see the whole thing and a scan to see the detail.

Special friend.

This is quite a big card and there's a bit of everything on it .........

The lady and greetings are stamped and embossed in silver. The background is printed and decoupaged. The flowers, butterfly and flourishes are die cut and the borders are peel offs. I printed a matching background insert to finish it off.

Versamark stamping

The cats whiskers.

Has it really been almost three weeks since my last post! I have been busy crafting but it all has to stay under wraps for now. I can however reveal a couple of things today.

I made this card for an experienced stamper so I was willing it to be perfect! I had a few mishaps along the way but I'm pleased with the end result ........I just hope she is!!

I started by stamping and embossing the cat face in the middle but after adding the border I didn't like it so punched it out and did it again in a different colour to place behind the aperture which looks sooo much better.

The border and background was made using varius versamark techniques. With the ink left on the craft mat I sprayed with water and mopped up with card to create the birthday tab and the small cat which is cut out and clear embossed.

World of Warcraft

Gatefold card.

Mens cards always seem to be hard and i'd been stuck for an idea of what to do for my sons birthday card this year, then inspiration struck when he told me he'd killed the Lich King! ..................for those of you who aren't aware its a bad guy in the World of Warcraft, an online computer game.

So this is what I made. I used an image from the internet of a scene with the Lich King in it and a screenshot of the character my son plays in the game and created a gatefold card. I cut the front parts to the shape of the characters and also 3D them, added a birthday greeting.

He loved it, he thinks its the best card i've ever made him!
